I am looking for recommendations for a escorted Greece tour that includes Santorini that won't break the bank. Any suggestions?
How long of a tour do you want? Mainland + Santorini (and possibly other islands) or just islands? What do you consider 'breaking the bank' - what's your budget for the amount of time you have? Reason you don't want to do it on your own? Greece is easy for independent travelers.
I prefer escorted Tours and must include Athens. Two weeks is good time frame.
Well, there's always the Rick Steves Greece tour. It is a 14 day tour and begins and ends in Athens. Then the tour leaves Athens to explore the Peloponnese Peninsula. When we took this tour, we added on a few days at the beginning so we could spend time in Santorini. We loved every minute of the tour and our (too brief!) stay in Santorini.
You can try contacting Fantasy Travel and Dolphin-Hellas Travel to see what they might be able to put together for you. Both have websites.
LF, the Rick Steves Greece Tour is excellent, diverse and 13 nights long. The only island it visits is Hydra. I enjoyed the tour, then visited Santorini for 3 nights, and Naxos for 3 nights, those islands on my own. Returned to Athens for a night before flying home. If you are set on finding a guided tour that includes precisely Athens, mainland and Santorini, you might find one. The Rick Steves tour experience is top-notch, with excellent guides and experiences, and offers great value for the price, I do believe.
Try Adventures Abroad. They offer a 9-day Greek Islands tour that includes Santorini and Athens. Some of their tours are designed to be done back-to-back, so you may be able to extend your tour time that way. The other alternative is to add a few days on your own before and/or after the tour. I did an Egypt tour with Adventures Abroad that I really enjoyed. It was reasonably priced and had a smaller group size. Optional activities and guide tip didn't add substantially to the cost of the tour.
