Is this in effect now, and for how long?

I have found no indication that the strikes set for Oct. 9, 10, 12 and 13 have been cancelled.

The strike was canceled at some point late on the 8th or early on the 9th. We were planing to fly from Athens to Santorini on the 9th, so we went and got ferry tickets. It all worked out fine until we tried to fix the airlines ticket. I wanted to instead get a flight back to Athens. Aegean air seemed happy to help, but because we bought our tickets through Expedia we had to call them. That's were things went down hill. The agent didn't understand the situation, regardless of how many times I tried to explain it. They also kept returning to the fact that the flight showed as flown. For me the lesson is to buy the tickets direct from the airlines, as it seems more likely they will be receptive to the unique situations that pop up in each country. It also was really difficult and expensive calling Expedia, and I had to listen to what sounded like a long series of agonizing canned scripts from the human agent, regardless of asking to skip to the issue several times. Even if Aegean had not refunded me, I would have stayed least saved on long distance calls. Very disappointing servicefrom Expedia.

I just returned from Europe this afternoon. I had flights into Athens on October 9th and out of Athens on October 10th. I got emails from my Airlines on the 8th of October for both the 9th and 10th cancelling the flights. I don't know if the airport was open or not. I ended up rerouting through Istanbul. Either way, if your flights are cancelled, does not matter if the airport is open or not.
