Going to Greece for 2 weeks probably in September/October. I will probably be there only once a there are many places I want to go in my lifetime.
I am looking for suggestions for where to go to get a descent look and experience of the culture, food, people of Greece. Thinking I will only have time for 3 places as not to rush around everywhere. Quality of quantity.
I am thinking Crete, Santorini and one other island. Any recommendations would be helpful. Also where would you stay in each? Thank you for your help.
Crete can consume you and has everything. Chania is fantastic.
We did not do Santorini so I can't speak to that. But it is on a ferry line from Heraklion Crete. After Santorini - Naxos is fantastic especially for your time table.
As warned by many others, plan on getting to Athens a day before you need to leave to avoid any possible ferry issues. A day in Athens is easily filled.
Three places- Athens, Nafplio and an island such as Paros or Naxos.
Santorini is one of the most visited places in the world and the most visited of the approximately 200 inhabited Greek islands.
If you are looking for Greek culture do not expect to find real one, but rather more or less an imitation of Greek culture adapted to crowds of tourists (who believe in it and who like it)
