My husband, me and our 2 kids (7 and 9 year old) are planning our first trip to Greece. They are really good travelers and into Greek mythology.
Travel dates will be in second half of Aug for approx 12 days. Based on my research I'm looking at Athens, Santorini, Naxos and Sifnos. I have a few questions:
1. # of days at each destination
2. Any other island we should consider adding/ replacing
3. Your preferred hotels/ activities
Thank you so much for your advice!
Do you mean this August ... 4 weeks from now? At height of High Season? (AUg 15 is 2nd Biggest Greek Holiday of entire year -- lilke 4th of JUly, Thanksgiving, Christmas combo). Plus, this year is the biggest tourism year in history for GReece - has broken all records. I doubt if you can get family accommodations near good beaches at almost Any price for August 2023 at this late date for any of those places but Athens ... it's really futile for us to suggest. But if you mean August 2024 -- we can help a lot!
hey hey RK
i totally agree with janet if you are planning next month. so many travelers all over along with families want to see the same places you do. it will be crowded and busy, look at booking.com what is available at this late stage in the game, email them if room available, make sure they allow 4 people because of safety issues and fire codes, how many beds or do allow you to get an extra cot, what other amenities there is, what is your transportation getting to them. look and see how many days you can get from hotels/condos.
your planning is just so late in the season, are you flying from USA or within europe? prices may be higher than you wish with slim pickens left over. good luck
