Google transfer Santorini Port to Oia. Oia is charming but will be usually be very crowded.

Suki, she says the OLD Port... that is not the port where busses or taxis go.. It is the port used by cruise ships. and there is only walking up the hundreds of steps of donkey-poo, or waiting with THOUSANDS OF others for hours for the cable car. The cruise ship excursions take their people to the NEW port, whre they get on busses. Margo is stuck with no good options.

This was 2017 so maybe things have changed but at the dock of the old port (Fira) there were a few companies you could buy tickets for a small ferry that dropped you off at the Oia port. Ours included a bus ticket back to Fira.

Depending the size of the group there are different options. For small groups up to 6 pax the best option is the water taxi service from Santorini yatching club . Phone number +30 2286 072071

In this case you may want to take the ship excursion. We did this last summer, we were the first people in Oia and it was deserted for about 30 minutes before the hoards showed up. We never would have made it there that early on our own.

However if you don't want to do that, take the boat from the Old port, it will drop you just below Oia and you can take a bus up the hill. There is a little bit of a hike to the bus from where the boat drops you. Note this is a one way trip, you will have to take the bus back to Fira and cable car down with everyone else. Leave plenty of time.

One tip- When you get back to the bottom of the cable car, if you have time walk all the way to the end of the port and sit at one of the cafes on the water for a little bit. It was really nice.
