Hi. We will be renting a car at the Athens airport, driving to Nafpoli (plus Epidavros and Mycenae) and then back to the Athens airport. Are there fueling stations along these routes, particularly with an eye toward filling the tank before turning the car back in? Do gas stations typically take credit cards, or do I need cash? Thanks.

No worries--it is like any highway in the US for the most part. We used a credit card and stopped at a station just before the airport. You can take a peek at Google Maps in advance to be ready (I try to look at navigation and stuff like fueling spots to help out my driver spouse).
The only thing we ever worried about was animals--I even saw a turtle crossing at one point!

There is a large gas station on the highway about 10 km from the airport. Thats where we always fill up when returning the car.

Like most of us on the RS Forum, we like to act local when possible. For my wife and me, that means hitting the rest areas while on a road trip. Goody's Burger House is at many of the rest areas and we hit them twice. Chicken fingers and wraps, good fries and a Coke, perfect road trip food. And they have gas stations and toilets too, so it works out perfectly!!!! No problem getting gas close to the airport.
