Just to clarify, these aren't exactly up market restaurants.
Except for Iodo in Kolonaki and Manari in the city center, all the other restaurants mentioned in this article are well outside the usual tourist area.
Manari is very well-known among French foodies since it was recommended by a very famous French food critic who publishes books and hosts radio and TV shows.

Lots of options in Central Athens either for tourists or locals.
I try to find where the locals go which is where you may find more authentic Greek Food other than the usual Souvlaki and Gyro wraps which are very good but there is more to Greek Food than those two types.
