Curious if anyone has been in Athens during the food festival in May. I was thinking of booking Greece for May but am worried that Athens could be very crowded with the festival happening every weekend.
Reason for my question - I accidentally booked a day trip to Lucca during international Comic Con which brought in hundreds of thousands of people :). I didn't know until I was dropped off into the masses.

Athens dwarfs Lucca by many orders of magnitude. I could be wrong, but I would not worry about much of an effect an event like that would have on such a large city during tourist season.
Don't worry, if you're talking about the Athens Street Food Festival, it has less impact on the Athens crowd than a soccer match or a concert by an international star.
Lucca is a city of 90,000 inhabitants, Athens it's 4 million inhabitants
