Hi – I need some help planning my upcoming trip to Greece. I am flying Newark EWR to Santorini, with a connection in Paris. It is Delta flight 8758 operated by Air France, departs EWR 5:00PM, lands in Paris DEGAULLE 6:05AM, connect to Delta flight 8615 operated by Air France at 8:20AM, arrive Thira, Greece (Santorini) at 12:40PM.
My question is: Do we need to collect our luggage during the connection in Paris and go through Immigration and Customs in Paris? Or will the bags be checked all the way to Santorini and then we do Immigration/Customs in Greece?
Also, on our way home, we are flying from Athens, connecting through Paris again on our way back to Newark. Same question – will we need to collect our luggage and go through Immigration and Customs in Paris?
Thank you in advance!
This has been answered many times in the forum....
No need to collect luggage at CDG. Make sure the bags are tagged all the way to
final destination in Newark. You will do passport control/immigration in Paris as that
is where you are entering the Schengen zone. Same on the return, as that is where
you are exiting the Schengen zone. Again, your bags should be tagged all the way to
EWR.
You will do customs (as trivial as it is) in Greece, and then in the US upon return.
Thank you for the reply! Do you think the 2 hours and 15 minutes connection time is long enough in Paris? I would love to grab a croissant as we run for the plane ;)
The croissants in CDG are industrially made and have nothing to do with real croissants, you will have much better ones in Greece. :))

Since you bought the journey as a single ticket ( correct?) , the airline thinks it is, and that is what counts.
When are you travelling? Be aware of the no-fly zone around Paris during the Olympics.
just be prepared to hustle. we flew thru Paris last year on our way to Venice. We had to go thru security in Paris then hop on a bus to get to a different terminal. We had about 2 hours between flights too. The bus part was very annoying.
Hi All - I am just reporting back, in case anyone reading this has the same question. Of course everyone in the forum was correct. Our bags were checked all the way through both outbound and return. And we had plenty of time for the transfer in Paris.
Thank you to everyone who replied to me!
Maria
You were lucky, Maria, I guess partly because of single ticket. Normally I warn people away from Chas deG after several nightmarish connections - even one with 3 hours allowed ... of all the major European airports, it is the worst, from layout, security and lack of helpfulness. I am glad your experience was smooth.
