If anyone has had an experience with Sky Express please let me know? We are flying from Athens to Mytiline on Oct. 26th hopefully. I noticed it is less expensive then Olympic or Aegean Airlines. Thanks so much!
Sky Express and Aegean are two good airlines. Look carefully at the baggage policy when booking your flight. Both have 3 different prices in economy. Also note that the maximum cabin baggage size may be lower due to the fact that flights to Lesvos are operated on small ATR72 turboprops.
Thank you so much! Ive heard more negative about Sky Express. If you need to check a bag and didnt do so in advance do they add it on to the cost at the airport.
Compared to Sky Express, Aegean is probably considered better since Aegean is one of the best in Europe.
That being said, if you look carefully you will also find bad reviews on Aegean as well as on any airline.
But Sky Express, which has had more than 3,500,000 passengers for more than 15 years and also operates internationally on the latest generation Airbus A32x neo, has nothing to envy of other airlines of the same size.
If you have to check in unplanned baggage at the airport, as with all airlines in the world you will have to pay a much more expensive rate than if you had declared it at the time of booking

I have used both recently. Both were good all around. I would not hesitate with either one.
Many airlines charge more at the airport or if not purchased as an upgrade in the booking process.
Often the upgrade package(economy but with more items) has seat selection in addition to the baggage for a better deal.
Thank you so very much for the helpful replies!
We flew Sky Express from Naxos to Athens last month. No issues at all
Thank you Edward for letting me know. I was curious if you checked a bag? As there are several choices and prices.

Yup we checked bags. They enforce the weight limit for carry-ons (8kg) and weigh everything if I remember correctly (many of the islands have shorter runways).
IMO it's worth it to get one of the higher tier tickets because it allows greater flexibility with flight changes, and I like being able to select my seat.
I really appreciate your advice and was thinking the same thing about checking bags so we dont have hassles. Any more tips please pass along! Thanks so much!
Leslie, I don't know about Lesvos, but if it's one of the short-runway isles that only accommodates the smaller turboprops vs jets -- you couldn't carry on a 20-21" suitcase anyway, no matter how much $$ you paid for ticket... no room to store such bags.

Sky Express uses a smaller aircraft for many of its Aegean routes, the ATR 42 or ATR 72.
The ATR birds are turboprop planes and they board from the BACK door, so sitting towards the rear can get you off the plane quicker. Also, on ATR 42s the seats in Row 1 face backwards, so I would avoid the first row unless you want to stare at the rest of the cabin!
