Flight from Athens to santorini

Hey everyone!!

I was wondering how much time I should leave from arriving from Athens from the US to getting on a plane to Santorini. I get in at 5:20pm. Would 9:45pm be pressing us for time? End of June on Friday night.

Thanks!

All you need is 2 hours to be on the safe side.

All you need is 2 hours to be on the safe side. If you're flying Aegean/Olympic you can print out your boarding passes 48 hours before the flight departs ATH for JTR and if you have bags to check you can drop them off at the designated drop-off counter before you go to the Departures gate.

Would you recommend getting a regular non refundable ticket or look into one that is more expensive and transferable in case I miss my flight or am delayed?

Not sure what you mean by a "regular nonrefundable". If you're looking at flights on Aegean air, they have 2 main categories -- Go LITE, and FLEX. the Latter allows transfers etc, and -- VERY importantly -- allows 1 checked bag, besides a limited-size carryon & a "personal item." THe Go-Lite only allows the carry-on, no checked bag. If you hve any items that wouldn't be allowed in a carry-on, that is a consideration beyond the nonrefundable aspect.

I would go with the later flight just in case of a delay getting from the US to Athens. More than likely you'll be OK but if there is a delay anywhere along the way then you may be out of luck. Either way you are going to get to Santorini later in the evening. I would play it safe and go with the later flight. As it is you are losing a lot of time on your first day on Santorini.

Most people suggest going straight to your Greek destination upon arriving in Athens rather than staying over night in Athens. However, if you are arriving in Athens at 5:20 p.m. you can still get in a fun night in Athens then get an early in the day flight to Santorini and have a fun-filled first day on the island and be fully rested after sleeping in Athens.

Weigh your options, costs, making connections at the airport and how tired you'll be.
