I'm planning a two-week trip to Greece in mid-Nov. 2024 and was hoping to get feedback on my itinerary below since it'll be our first visit. I know driving to Meteora is a lot, but would love to see it. But if you think the roads/weather will not be doable. Please let me know!
Arriving in Athens, stay for 3 nights.
Picking up rental car at airport, then driving to Delphi, stay 1 night.
Drive to Meteora, stay 2 nights.
Drive to Karpenisi stay 1 night.
Drive to Olympia stay 2 nights.
Drive to Temple of Apollo (is this a terrible drive/idea??), then drive to Mystras, stay 1 night.
Drive to Nafplio, stay 2 nights.
Final morning drive to airport and fly out in the afternoon.
This is a very busy itinerary with a lot of driving.
It's a shame you could have spent your holiday visiting these areas, but you'll mostly be spending it... in a car, driving a lot of winding semi-mountain roads where you can't go faster than 40mph.
Once you get to your destination you'll probably find the sites closed as they close at 3pm in the winter and it will be dark by 6pm.
Thanks for the advice! I, too, am concerned with the amount of driving. So will likely take some parts out.
