My husband & I are celebrating our 30th anniversary next year and plan on taking 4 day Celestyal cruise out of Athens. We plan on doing an Athens day tour post cruise before we fly back the next day. We would like to plan a day or two (no more than 2) pre cruise to visit a nearby town outside of Athens. We read about Nafplion in Rick Steve’s book. Is that a “feasible” day trip? Would we need to stay overnight? I would appreciate any advice seasoned Greece travelers would have. Thanks

Nafplio would be perfect for your pre cruise. It takes about 2 hours each way so an overnight would be a good idea but you can do it in a day if thats all you have.

Yes, definitely consider staying overnight in Nafplion. It's one of the most beautiful towns in mainland Greece and only 2 hours drive to Athens. Have fun!
