My self, my husband and 3 adult children ages 20-27, will be visiting the Cyclades for 10 days, beginning mid May. Trying to figure out Itinerary. We would like it to be a relaxing vacation along with some touristy agenda. We are also an active family. We were thinking of 3 nights in Santorini, a day on Delos, and then perhaps Naxos, and Mykonos. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks.
You have too much on your wish list for only 10 days ! I’d either try and make it 14 days ( it’s a long flight for only 10 days ) or keep it to two islands . In mid May ferry schedules may not be on full service so may be ferries only once a day , so each move eats up almost a day of sightseeing and relaxing .
You could fly into Athens ( from where you live ) then catch a flight to Santorini - then ferry to Naxos or Mykonos - then fly back to Athens ( plan to be in Athens night before your international flight ) for trip home .
I am not a fan of Mykonos - you will have already been on Santorini and experienced crowds and high prices - I think Naxos would be a welcome relief after that !
We will be there end of May - leave us some wine !
I always sigh when people say "visiting for 10 days" and are NOT specific. Does this include the day you leave home? The day you r arrive in ATH airport? the day of Departure? NONE should be counted. If those are part of your "10" it is really only 7 ... so you can understand we cannot give you any sensible advice before you clarify. Please give specifics --- including Day AND Time of arrival and Day AND time of departure.
We went to Greece for two weeks with our young adult children last May and had a wonderful time. Apart from issues of how much you can see in whatever time, I thought I would add that we very deliberately did not go to Mykonos. It is a party island and not where I wanted to go with our young adult children. They loved santorini. They loved Naxos even more.
