Fira to Firostefani path blocked? Bus stops in Firostefani?

Hello. I read that part of the walking path along the caldera from Fira to Firostefani is blocked off but signage is poor causing the unsuspecting to backtrack a bit. Does anyone have current information as to the blockage and where to get off the path to prevent backtracking?

Also, we thought of walking only from Fira to Firostefani to see the Three Bells/the view, and then hopping a bus to Oia. Does anyone know where the bus stops in Firostefani so we don't miss it? I haven't located bus stops on a map yet. It can't be true that you can just flag down a public bus. We would like to avoid walking back to Fira but don't know if the bus will be too crowded to get on mid-afternoon. Thank you fellow travelers!

Are you in santorini right now, or about to arrive? If so, I suggest asking your hoteliers those 2 questions... they will be more current.

Thank you. We will be there mid-September. We are just trying to sketch out an itinerary. Certainly, we can check with the hotel upon arrival. Good idea.

The Firostefani bus stop is near the Three Bells Church. If you walk perpendicular (it's pretty level) from the road to the Caldera, you'll intersect the path and turn left to the Church. If you hike further left from the bus stop, up the steep road, near the top you'll come to the viewpoint overlooking the Church.

When I was in Firostephani in June, I learned that the Outbound/Northbound bus route (going from Fira to Oia) had been changed. Rather than using the Main road, (which is just behind the rimside Firostephani hotels), instead going northbound the bus used the Next-lower road (in Fira Town that's the "business'' street). So it's a longer walk from a rimside hotel... but still easier than going all the way into Fira town to the bus lot. Coming back from OIA (southbound) it's on the main road, bus stop as before... near Taverna Aktaion. This was because of severe traffic jams (curse the cruise ship crowds!).

In June I encountered that narrow blockage of the walkway.... I used the flagstoned path that paralls the Main road (have your hotel point the wy to it), then at a certain point, cut over to the rimside path. The blockage was caused by I think some rockfall, or damage to path or wall... again, ask your hotel, it may have been repaired.
