Final itineary

Hello,
I'm 2 weeks out from my trip so everything is booked.
I am leaving some flexibility in my day activities so I can make adjustments based on local input and my energy level.

I may want to relax one day vs sightseeing.

First 2 days in Athens/last night in Athens.

Rest of trip in Peloponnese, have rental car.

Any "must see" locations that I may have overlooked.

Overnight stops,
Nafpilo, 3N
Areopoli, 2N
Kardamyli, 2N

Other stops
Cornith
Epidavros
Mystras
Mani drive (Gerolimenas/Vathia/Cape Tenaro)
Kastania
Stoupa
Sounion or Nemea on return to Athens

Looks like a wonderful tour. Enjoy! With three nights in Nafplio I would add a trip to Mycenae. Go through the Lions Gate, see Agamemnon's tomb (not really Agamemnon's but the dome is awesome), wander the ruins there that are a thousand years older than the Parthenon.

This looks like a good itinerary. I visited Sounion last year when driving from the Peloponnese back to Athens. It is not that far out of the way, considering all of the miles you will be driving throughout your trip. It was one of the highlights of our trip.

if choosing Sounion, try to visit durijg day, to contenmplate in peace, NOT at sundown because many tour busses arrive, at least in summer, and hundreds of people swarm in.

If you still have an hour or two to spare, you can also take advantage of having a car to visit the Kaisariani Monastery. It's about 20 minutes east of Athens, on Mount Hymettus, in a verdant setting overlooking the city of Athens.

It is closed on Tuesdays.

Is there any stops that I should consider besides Sounion/monestary near Athens? Drive part from Kardamyli to Cornith. Did Mani drive yesterday, beautiful.

From Kardamyli to Athens, it's a 4-hour drive non-stop. If you stop in Corinth and other places on the same day, you won't be able to visit the Kaizariani Monastery, which closes at 3 pm. However, you can still go to Cape Sounion, the archaeological site is open until sunset (sunset at Cape Sounion is a popular day trip destination).

Depending on your itinerary, you could also visit the archaeological site of Ancient Messene, 45 minutes north of Kalamata. Allow at least an hour to visit the site.

JoLui,
Visited both the monestary and Sounion. It was a nice finish to my trip. I dropped the car off and arrived back in Athens for dinner. Great suggestion!
