Ferry tickets pick up?

I will only be in Athens a day and a half before I take an early morning ferry to Paros in June. My question is, should I spend my only full day in Athens going to a Blue Star Ferry office in the port to collect my reserved ticket or just wait till the early morning of my departure and collect it at the ferry gate? worry about "lines" to collect tickets at departure time.

Also, I will have a second island departure for Hydra when I RETURN to the port from Paros, with about an hour between the Hydra departure, so a timely collecting of that reserved ticked is a concern. Don't want to miss any ferries.

Appreciate any information from travelers who have experience with this topic.

You can pick up your ticket at any ticket agency near your hotel, as far as I know... you may have to pay a "convenience fee" but hey! time is money, I always just use an agency. You can even use the agency in the airport as you arrive and Zippo! done!

I had worried about this too with our early morning departure from Pireaus. I had planned to just pick up the tickets the morning of our departure. I Google-walked myself around the port to make sure I knew where to go get the tickets.

However, once we were in Athens, I happened to walk by one of the places where I could, theoretically, pick up our tickets. I had read, like Janet mentions, that there are places where you can pick them up, perhaps for a small fee. I walked into the one near our hotel and asked about getting our tickets. But he said no. He was nice but he just said we need to wait until we get to the port. That's just one experience and probably people have had others, but there you go.

The next morning, we took a cab to the port. The driver dropped us off right in front of the Blue Star building. We waited about 5 minutes in line to get the tickets. This was March so I imagine June will be more crowded.

When we got our tickets, they gave us ALL of our tickets for future ferries as well so we never waited in line anywhere else.

I guess that's becuse you reserved in advance... I hve NEVER bought tickets from home in advance... only time I would possibly do would be Easter week or several days before the Aug 15 Big holiday. no need to.
