Hoping someone in the forum community can offer an opinion on whether it is better to take the ferry to the island of Milos or to fly there? If you have a preference or experience can you please share some details. We are scheduled to be in Milos October 7-12. Just not sure of the best way to get there and back, a little concerned about rough seas.
It depends on where you are coming from, and where you ar returning to, whch you do not share. Is it from and back to Pireaus. If so, then going on Oct 7, there's a Speedrunner; its a CC = "car-carrying catamaran" at 11 AM -- arrives 3:20 = 4.5 hrs. That's a fairly large vessel, about 500 passengers, won't bounce around like a passenger-only cat (do NOT take those) , but it's reserved seats, no area to walk around, no outside decks. If returning Oct 12, that same vessel leaves 20:35 - arr 23:40 (8:35pm-11:40). Proably cost u about €55 each way? The large Conventional ship-size ferry on that route is only 1-2x per week and can take 7 hours! stops many times, it's a "lifeline" route.
Flying, on Oct 7, there's an 8:35 flight arr 9:15, and a 3:30pm arr 4:10, at the "promotional" rates of €52.94 and €68.94. I didn't check return schedule but it's probably a similar rate. You should be able to make a decision based on these facts which I just looked up for you. Links are ferrries www.gtp.gr., and for air https://en.aegeanair.com/plan/book-a-flight/ You can check for yourself.
Taking a ferry essentially uses up a minimum of half a day. On vacation time is more important than money. Fly get there fast. You do know that October is off season particularly in Milos.
