Ferry Hydra to Ermioni and One Way Rental Car Ermioni to Athens

I am having trouble with finding a car in Ermioni. Its there always only one Ferry at 8:30pm Hydra to Ermioni?
fyi - I've read all the postings for Ermioni, but having trouble and looking for more recent info.
This is my first time posting and asking for help.

I am arriving in Piraeus Port, Greece on a Sat morning in May 2026 and had planned to take a Ferry to Hydra.

Stay in Hydra 2 nights.
Then take a Ferry from Hydra to Ermioni, rent a car and drive to Nafplio (3 nites).
Then take few days driving to include stops at Delphi (maybe via the west side of the Corinth Bay) and to Meteora, ending at the Athens airport.

I'm having 2 problems and hope someone can help.
1) Ferry Schedules for May aren't open yet, but the current October schedule shows only one ferry a day at 8:30pm. Does anyone know if that is typical and I need to plan on that late Ferry? Or change my plan.
2) Has anyone rented a car in Ermioni and dropped it off at Athens Airport? The Rick Steves guide book says it's possible, and I think I read someone on this forum had done it, but nothing comes up on any of my usual car search engines.
I contacted (emailed) [email protected] as suggested in my Rick Steves guidebook, but have had no response. I will try to call them too. Can anyone suggest how I could do this?

Alternatively, I looked at Renting a car in Piraeus and returning it to Ermioni, then to Hydra - but no car options came up with the usual search engines.

I could do a Ferry RT from Piraeus to Hydra, then rent my car in Piraeus an return to the Airport for my driving tour, but that seemed inefficient. Or maybe I skip Hydra since I am going to 2 other islands, even though Hydra sounds like a unique choice.

Thank you for any help you can provide.

Since Popscar seems to be the only rental company that offers pickup in Ermioni and drop-off in Athens, you should wait for their response, especially since you have plenty of time between now and May 2026. Greeks are generally in no hurry, and they may wonder why you're contacting them so early.

So don't panic. You can, of course, call them.

Regarding the Hydra-Ermionio route, there are other ferries before 8:30 PM. Here are the schedules for previous years in May:

From Hydra to Ermioni

  • 9:50 - 15:40 - 20:10 (Monday-Thursday)
  • 9:50 - 15:20 - 20:10 (Friday)
  • 10:10 - 15:20 - 20:10 (Saturday)
  • 9:50 - 15:40 - 20:10 (Sunday)

Or check with the Hydra Direct Christo boat:

The schedules for May from Hydra to Ermioni were as follows last year:
8h30 - 11h00 - 15h00 - 17h30 (daily)

No reservations, you buy the ticket on board (around €10)

Pop's is the only car rental company I know of that may work for you.

If you don't hear from them soon try sending another email.

I've used Christos Passenger Ferry when I was in Ermioni and it was great. Several ferry runs to/from Hydra throughout the day and only costs 10 euros each way. Takes about 30-40 minutes. It's located right on the waterfront in Ermioni in a small office.

On Hydra the ferry parks at the waterfront and they'll be a big sign on the side of the ferry with the company's name. You pay when you get on board.

The website provide in earlier post is also good for other info regarding Hydra.

Since May of 2026 is so far away ferry schedules are not available but there should be several ferries available. The best company would be Saronic Ferry.

You could use the open seas website and when entering a date GO BACK to May of this year and you may get an idea of what's available but no guarantee the schedule will be the same for 2026.
