Any recommendations getting from Naxos to Amorgos by ferry? In looking at ferry schedules, it seems there are more to Katapola than Aegiali. We want to stay in Aegiali. The ferry schedules vary widely, too--in timing and in price. Any hints would be appreciated!
As you do not give exact dates here is some basic information:
From Naxos:
The "Blue Star Naxos" goes to Katapola on Sundays Tuesdays and Fridays and to Aegiali on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Departure from Naxos around midnight. Arrival in Amorgos about 2 hours later.
The Small Cyclades Lines "Express Skopetilis" departs from Naxos on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
Departure from Naxos at 2:30 p.m. Arrives in Aegiali around 8:00 p.m. and then goes to Katapola, arrives at 8:50 p.m. and stays in Katapola for the night.
The ticket price with Blue Star or Small Cyclades Lines is around 12€
Seajets "Superjet" only goes to Katapola. He makes this trip every day, leaves around noon from Naxos and arrives in Katapola about 1 hour later.
The price of the ticket with Seajets is around 58€
The Seajets "Superjet" is a small high-speed catamaran of less than 400 passengers in which you will be "locked" in for the duration of the trip and risk being very shaken if the sea is rough (I have memories of quite epic crossings with it )
Blue Star Naxos and Expess Skopetilis are traditional ferries with open decks.
If you arrive in Katapola and need to go to Aegiali, in summer there are 6 to 8 buses per day (depending on the date) that make this route. Arriving with the Seajets in Katapoloa around 1:15 p.m. you can take a bus within an hour. Ticket price: 4€
Otherwise you can ask your host to arrange a transfer for you.
