ferries from Athens to Mykonos to Naxos to Santorni

We will be spending 2 nights in Athens, Mykonos, Naxos and Santorni - in this order
is there one website to find ferry information for all of these islands? there seems to be many ferry lines so not sure which one to use. If I can see all the info for all ferries on one site, that would be very helpful.

how far ahead do I need to reserve ferry tickets or can I wait until we get there.

Also, looking at staying in Oia - we will be there for 1.5 days - my daughter wants to see "Mama Mia" type areas. r these close to Oia?

Thanks

Santorini is the farthest south of the Cycladic Islands. Mamma Mia was filmed on the islands of Skopelos and Skiathos in the N. Sporades group, NE of Athens, about as far from Santorini as you could be.
We used different ferry lines to travel between those islands. Blue Star was one of them, large with open decks as well as inside seating.. The other was a fast jet type, you sit inside, Sea Jets.

Cindy,

You may want to change your order of travel and leave Athens to the end of your trip, especially if you're departing from Athens' airport.

You may want to read this recent post where Janet gives excellent advice about the islands you plan to visit.

We visited Santorini & Mykonos in the off season (October) without the large crowds and booked our ferry tickets in a travel agency while in Greece.

You don't mention when you're traveling, but if you plan to be there during the summer, then booking your ferry tickets in advance may be a good idea.

You may benefit by reading Matt Barrett's website which is a great source of information on Greece.

Did you & your daughter watch the movie, 'The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants'? If so, you can find some of the filming sites in Santorini.

Have a wonderful trip!

To reach Skopelos, where Mama Mia was filmed, you first have to go to Skiathos to catch the ferry. You can fly to Skiathos or take a ferry from the mainland at either Volos (to Skiathos), or AGIOS KONSTANTINOS (to Skopelos). You can also take a ferry from Thessaloniki in the north to Skopelos.

The geography of Skopelos is nothing like that of Santorini but Santorini is just as charming in its own way.

Ferry schedules: www.gtp.gr Just buy tickets as you go, a couple of days ahead of time.

We changed the itinerary as we originally were going to take the ferry from Naxo's back to Athens, then fly the next day to rome. But I just realized that we could take a flight from Santorni to Rome so thought we would add that at the back end instead of going back to Athens.

Thanks for the link to the ferries!

Hi Cindy!

I think it's quiet difficult to combine Santorini with Skopelos. If you take the ferries you'll lose more than a day in total. I think that you should give a try in other islands around Santorini. If your daughter is movie inspired you can visit Amorgos, which is the island were "Le Grand Bleu" was filmed and it is really amazing! I think there is a direct ferry connection from Santorini to Amorgos. But, if there isn't you can probably reach Amorgos by stopping in Naxos. I usually use www.ferryhopper.com to find two-leg routes.

Depending on the time that you'll travel, take care of the availability. During August the ferries and the islands are really crowded!

Cheers!
Panos
