Fantasy Travel - frustrations....

Hi,

Fantasy travel was recommended here on the forum , as we are 3 couples, they wanted to use a travel agent for all. Anyways I have been working with a person there for over a month, and really trying to finalize all plans as we are going 1st part of Oct.
With the different time zones we lose a day with each email. She does not read my emails thru and never answers all my questions.

I am hoping someone used them, was happy with them and could provide a name of the person or anther travel agency that they were happy with

Thanks so much,
Monica

This is the first complaint about Fantasy Travel that I've ever seen. Dolphin-Hellas in Athens has an excellent reputation. I've never used them but you can contact them to see how responsive they are to your questions.

We first used Dolphin Hellas in 1996 back then everything had to be done by fax. We got great service from Uli Perschau who is actually still working for them. One issue might be that these travel agents may have connections to specific hotels and may just have a list of the ones they can book with. Thats just speculation on my part.

google Dolphin Hellas and contact Uli. She got us a private driver at 4am to take us to the airport during a taxi strike. Now thats service.

Here is what I would do if I were you. Go on Booking dot com and input your dates ( I suspect if you give us your dates Janet will probably do this for you) Input you need three rooms and do a search. Find a few properties that suit your needs then give Uli the names of those properties and see what she can do for you. Even if there is no availability on your dates if the hotels you find suit your needs Uli may be able to book them because most hotels hold back rooms from booking sites so they don't have to pay fees.

Of course if it were me I would do that research and simply book the hotels myself. You may have to take the bull by the horns and just do that.

What work are you hoping to not do by using a travel agency? It seems like you are already doing a lot of work trying to use a travel agency.

You could try Aegean Thesaurus which I used on our first trip to Greece. They were prompt, polite, quick to respond and gave us options on accommodations. They booked all transfers, from the airport to hotel, to the port then had someone pick us up at our destination. Same for return. That was in 2010 so can't say if they are still as good but at the time we were very happy.

Having said all that the next year we booked everything ourselves, flight, took public transportation from the airport, booked all our accommodations, car rental, etc. and dealt directly with the businesses. We've done that every year since 2010 and found it easy and usually got better prices and service.

The internet makes it very easy to do-it-yourself but I understand the convenience of having a travel agency doing the work, less stress and very convenient (for the most part)

I'm not sure what's up with Fantasy Travel but they get good reviews but if you don't get satisfaction try Aegean Thesaurus.
