Excursions - Greece - Passports

Is it normal to provide passport number and date of birth to book excursions in Greece? We are wanting to book a water excursion and they are asking for all. Thanks :)

The passport number, it's normal, it's proof for tax reasons.

The date of birth, I don't know. Ask them

It is OK. They are just trying for identification. The passport number is meaningless and date of birth tends to be public information. In the US, I give my birth date all the time.
