Epirus and Cyclades July 2021

I hope you are doing well and that the situation will improve over the world, I plan to spend the month of July 2021 in Greece, starting with a flight (Athens-Ioannina).

I would like to ask you if when it is better to make day trips to the villages of zagoria and spend the night in Ioannina (with car) or to stay for 2 or 3 days in the villages ( there is not in my knowledge a nightlife there) .

Here is my program:

Day1 Arrival- ioannina
Day 2 : city tour
Day 3: Kipoi and Vikos-Ioannina
Day 4: visit the historical monuments around Ioannina.
Day 5: Papingo and Monodendri-Ioannina

Days 6-7: Parga

Days 8-9-10 Lefkada

Day 10 Return to Ioannina for the drop off.

Day 11 :Bus Ioannina-Meteora (Kastraki)
Day 12 Meteora

Day 13 Bus Kalambaka -Volos-Skopelos

Days 13-14-15-16-17 Skopelos with an excursion to Alonissos

Days 18-19-20 Skiathos.

Day 21 Flight Skiathos Athens - Syros
Days 22-23 Syros

Days 24-25-26-27-28 Amorgos

Days 29-30-31 Astypalea

Days 1-2-3 August Athens
Day 4 Return

  1. If you're going to have a car in Ioannina, I would recommend driving to Meteora. Kastraki is not that close to Kalambaka, and neither is that close to Meteora, that you'll want to walk these. There are tour buses, but having a car will let you see whatever monasteries you want whenever you want, and have your car to get into Kalambaka for an evening.

  2. It might help your searches to know that Skiathos, Skopelos, etc. are not the Cyclades but the Sporades. The Cyclades are further south (Syros, Amorgos, etc.). Astypalea is in yet another group, the Dodecanese.
