Emirates Newark to Athens

Hi
Has anyone been on the 11:55pm flight to Athens? I am trying to figure out if they serve you dinner upon getting on the plane and then breakfast? I know the return they feed you lunch and dinner but can not find any info for the outbound. Do they include wine during the flight?
Any insight would be great.
Thanks

All previous nonstops from N. America have had late-afternoon departures, whereas Emirates is the first to take off so late, so cannot extrapolate from other nonstop procedures. Maybe the Emirates website doesn't have y our answer, butI have a brilliant idea: why not just ask an Emirates rep in person??? I just googled it: 1-800-777-3999. Google is Your Friend.

Just call the airline. They'll tell you the meal schedule. Emirates has a stellar reputation so I hope you enjoy the flight.

I haven't flown Emirates but have flown other late night flights to Europe. Dinner was served which I thought was a bit odd.

Bottom line is that I am not sure it will make any difference to you. Are you really going to wait until midnight to eat anything if they are serving dinner? I certainly didn't.

valid point. I would guess they have breakfast or lunch since we do not arrive until 4 pm. Hopefully they do not wake too early

We took the 11:55 Emirates flight form Newark to Athens last month. And yes, they served both dinner and breakfast. Download the Emirates app, enter your flight info, and it'll have copies of the menus available for your flights. Wine & beer (in economy, anyway) is available at a cost. Hope this helps and have a great trip!

Not really excited about a midnight flight however

Get excited. At that hour there are only two flights departing Newark. Your flight and a Cathay Pacific flight to Hong Kong. So there will be zero lines at TSA, and lots of space to spread out in the terminal.

In addition to Michael's point about the emptiness of EWR at that hour, the other advantage of a late flight is that it's much easier to get some sleep on the plane, since your body is ready for sleep at that time. When you take off at 6 PM, it's tough to feel sleepy (at least for me). When I have a choice, I now pick later flights when possible.

I agree with Harold. I have taken two late night flights, including one that got delayed until 3:00am!! Still I slept more on the plane than with early morning arrivals and had an easier time adjusting to the time change. There is no way you can get a full nights sleep in coach but I found I could sleep enough that I could easily go to bed at regular time in Europe. I absolutely cannot stay awake all day with early morning arrivals (have to take a nap).

One more thing - that flight was PACKED!!!! We showed up at the gate two hours prior, and the line was ridiculous! They have a separate line for those who checked in online - which we did, and even that line was long. If we could've done anything differently, it would've been to show up even earlier.

thanks for the heads up. I hate waiting in line forever. We may try and get to the counter a little earlier
