e-Sim recommendations for Greece (Athens and several islands)

Hi travelers,

Going to Greece this fall. Please share any recommendations for a good e-sim mobile service that will cover Athens, Mykonos, Delos, Naxos, Santorini. Using an Samsung android phone. Thanks so much in advance.

I've been using Cosmote for years and covers everywhere in Greece whether islands or mainland and in very rural areas.

I have used Roamless eSIM in other European countries, including France, without any issues. They list Greece as a supported destination and I plan to use them when I visit this fall.

I second the Roamless esim. I've been using it in US, Ireland, GB, and Switzerland. Works great. Pay As You Go, your balance never expires. For Greece it's $2.45/Gb.

The SIM cards sold at the airport tend to cost more than ones you can get from a local shop like Germanos or a Cosmote located in Athens.

However, if you are going directly from the airport to an island or parts of the mainland then it would be more convenient getting one at the airport.

Just depends on your budget.

Using sim local. Worked very well in Pelopolonese/Athens. Took 5 minutes to download at home. Have a shop at baggage claim in case you have issues. Connects to 3 networks including Cosmote. Have iPhone so can't speak to Android setup.

Hi! We will be visiting Greece for the first time this summer. I have an iPhone, do I need a SIM card or can I just use my ATT international plan? I believe my international plan is included in my current pricing already.

Depends on your iphone model (older vs newer). You would need to contact ATT for your account's international access/rates. A sim card is a small physical card that you swap out versus an e-sim which is usually only data via software/app.

Plus, you need to know if your phone is unlocked.
