Considering spending a couple of days on Hydra after visiting the Peloponnese region. The car rental agency has instructed us to meet them at the port gate and we are wondering if this will be relatively easy to do or stressful and complicated. Thanks for your advice.
It's not complicated to reach Gate 8 of the port of Piraeus.
Once on the avenue that runs along the quays, you will see the signs indicating the direction of gates E7 E8:

Where you can wait for the car rental guy.
That's all.
Thank you for the helpful information and reassurance, JoLui. It is greatly appreciated!
If you take the ferry right after dropping off the car, meet the rental guy at least 1 hour before the ferry leaves. Especially on summer mornings the streets and quays could be much busier than what you see in the Street View photos.
Thanks again! Yes, we will be there on either a Sunday or Monday afternoon in mid-June. (Would one day be less crowded than the other?)
Would 90 minutes prior to ferry departure be optimal?
Thanks so much for all recommendations.
On a June afternoon, 90 minutes should be enough.
I couldn't tell if a particular day of the week is better than another. City traffic in Piraeus is likely to be quieter on a Sunday.
Either way I assume you will be in touch by email or text to confirm the exact time and place.
Also make sure you have time to get your ferry tickets. All ticket offices are where you will wait to return the car.
