Driving in Paros

Hello - I will be in Paros for the first time in late August for three days. We'll be arriving at the port in Parikia, and staying in Naousa.

I'm trying to decide whether to rent a car to have easier mobility to the beaches around Naousa bay, and to visit Lefkes. However, after a nightmare experience in Vis last summer with some windy clifftop roads, I'm reticent to do so if the roads in Paros are similar.

Does anyone have any insight into driving conditions in Paros, particularly the drive from Parikia to Naousa, and from Naousa to Lefkes? If the roads are windy/perched atop cliffs, I'd rather take taxis/buses to Lefkes/Naousa and rent an ATV to get to nearby beaches.

Thanks in advance for any thoughts!

We drove all of those roads without problems. Lefkes is known for it’s pottery and marble. We bought some pieces of pottery there with an octopus motif. We loved our stay in Naoussa.

Late August is long past, so my reply isn't going to help you, but maybe it will help others looking for similar information:

Driving on Paros is perfectly o.k., I don't remember steep cliffs or anything like that.

However, you may want to consider going by bus as an alternative. Paros has an excellent and very reliable bus system which is not especially laid out for the tourists but for the locals. So you can be sure it will be in effect year-round, not only during main season.

We also found a mountain bike rental in Parikia and had a lot of fun exploring the island by bike.
