Driving - best route from Nafplio to Delphi

Looking at google maps prior to our trip in a couple weeks, I see 2 main routes driving from Nafplio to Delphi
A) North to Corinth on E65
Towards Athens on highways 8, then E962, then 48
-OR-
B) North to Corinth on E65
West on coastal route 8
Cross bridge at Pio
East on E65 coastal route to Delphi

Which is recommended? I have a sense the coastal route is probably beautiful, but might be scary
The other route closer by Athens, maybe more crowded?

Thanks for advice!

Although I think the route B is probably a bit longer, the drive over the Rio-Antirrio bridge at Patras is worth the slightly longer drive. It is really cool. The drive up the mountains to Delphi is also lovely.

If you go clockwise, via Patras, you get a beautiful drive with a lot of great choices for stops along the way.

If you go anti-clockwise, you get a beautiful drive with a good many great choices for stops along the way.

I honestly don't have a preference; just depends on which of the stops along the way appeal more.

If you have the time to spare I would go towards Rio…lovely little drive. Some good beachfront restaurants before you cross the bridge as well! Parts of the road, esp on the Delphi side, are windy cliff roads but nothing too bad. Biggest danger is getting distracted by all that gorgeous water!

Good info, thanks @willhaysnoe @Kim - Sounds like the slightly longer route thru Pio is beautiful, and hopefully not too scary. We are originally from Oregon so driving along coastal roads will be somewhat familiar. We won’t be in a rush, have that afternoon to make the route, so a stop for lunch would be about right.
