We will be driving from Napflio to Delhi mid-September. How mountainous or difficult is this drive. We understood it may take about 4 hours. We intend to leave mid-morning.

If you want to take a small detour consider stopping at Ancient Nemia. Its just off the highway on the way to Delphi. It had sister games to Olympia and the stadium is still there. There is also a tidy site with a partially restored temple and a great little museum.
The visit can be done in an hour.
You might want to backtrack to Corinth. There is Ancient Corinth plus the magnificent fortress at AcroCorninth with 360 degree views over the countryside.
We timed our arrival in Delphi for mid afternoon found a hotel. make sure you get a room with a view down to the Gulf. The mountainside looks like a river of Olive trees all the way down.
Use this time to visit the museum which will set you up for the visit next morning. get tot eh gate at opening. That will give you at least an hour head start before the tour bus crowds arrive.
