Just wondering what time to be at the airport to check into a domestic flight. We will be flying from Athens to Crete, Crete to Santorini, and Naxos to Athens. TIA.
An hour is plenty of time, especially if you've gone online to download your boarding passes.
...Plus, even the Athens airport is not huge, very manageable, especially for Domestic flights.
I took the ferry from Heraklion to Santorini and from there to Naxos. The ferry port in Santorini - arrvial and departure is kind of a zoo. I was told the aiport isn't any better. I flew from Naxos to Athens, get there an hour in advance and you'll wonder why you arrived so early :-) 30 minutes is probably enough.
Totally agree. Its nowhere near as long as you need in the US. 30 mins is good. An hour is plenty.
On your first domestic flight, outbound from ATH to Crete, they'll want you there 1 hr ahead; you might squeak by with 45, but if it's a very heavy traffic time -- say mid-afernoon, on a Friday -- try to allow an hour. Anyway, most of us are doing that outbound leg the day we arrive in Greece .... 2 hrs layover is advised, so u can get thru passport control, claim your bags & hae time to grab a few €€€ from an ATM. On the islands (except Santorini & Mykonos), much smaller planes, smaller airport building, if you got there 1 hr ahead, no one would be at the counter to check u in or take your checked bag. 30 mins is fine.
