I have read on another forum that the 20% discount can only be applied to future trips, not at the point of sale as in previous years. Is this correct, I’ve not read anything about this change?

Yes, I just looked it up and it seems they have changed that. The Bonusways subscription now works like the airmiles systems from airlines. You can collect them and thenuse them on future tickets.
