Delphi site

Does the following sound correct from RS book?

Delphi sight 1.5 -2 hours to see everything?

Museum 60 minutes?

How long is your ticket good for? ( thinking about doing the site one day and then walk from town to the museum the next day.)

Does the museum provide guides or not really needed?

  • You can spend 2 hours at the ruins .... separate time to walk downhill to the Athena Tholos ruins & the castellian springs (open 24/7).
  • Museum do-able in 60 minutes, well signaged, you can understand without a guide if you've done the least bit of homework. of course a good guidebook, or printouts from Internet would also help.

• Yes u can see site/museum on separate days... my best experience is when we took KTEL bus up arriving late afternoon, checked into hotel, went to Museum at 6 pm -- totally deserted!! Sunset at outdoor terrace looking down mountain. Next AM went to site at 8 am had 2+ hours before bus tours arrived & by that time we were high up in the hill ahead of groups ... or u can do reverse. the key thing is that the Museum will be he MOST crowded from about 11:30 - 2.

Janet's advice is good. Visit the museum in the late afternoon then enjoy the town. By the way the museum is in the town. Next morning get to the site at opening. you will have two hours until the tour buses arrive and by then you will be at the top of the site which will give you another hour before the crowds reach you. Thats a good time to leave.
