Hello, We will be ending a cruise in Athens and then want to take the local ferry back to Idra. Are the ports in the same location?

The port of Piraeus has approximately 4 km of docks, and the cruise terminals are not located in the same location as the ferry port. The free shuttle bus that serves the port does not go to the cruise terminals. It's at least a 30-minute walk to Gate E8, where ferries to Hydra depart.
The best option is to take a taxi, although it's not that far.

I am not attributing malice to our taxi driver from downtown Athens; It could have been a language issue, or our not having an ironclad, printed out, pier number (?) or name for the Windstar cruise ship location. But he could not have dropped us off any farther from our shop than he did! We walked over a mile with our luggage. Since we came from a hotel, I should have had the doorman instruct him, and show a picture of our ship.

Ferries to Hydra are no cruise ships and have been departing from the same gate for ages- taxi drivers know where it is.
