My husband and I have planned a trip to Greece in early October, starting on Crete. We are flying into Heraklion and staying in Chania for a week. Our airbnb host arranged a rental car for us from the airport. I had originally intended to take a taxi from the airport to Chania and rent a car as needed but now realize it’s quite a distance for that. Hopefully the parking limitations and one-way streets in Chania that others have posted about, won’t be too much of a problem. Any advice on that is welcomed. Also, we were thinking it might be good to have a tour guide for one day, to help us see a few of the sites on Crete and we could then identify places to go back and visit more in depth. Is that a good idea? Are there such tour guides in Crete? Thanks in advance for any knowledgeable advice.
My husband and I just did a trip around the UK & Ireland and rather than using more corporate companies, got our guides from Airbnb Experiences.
You still get the lay of the land with locals but usually in smaller groups. We are returning to Greece in September and will do the same again. Highly recommended!
