We will be taking the ferry from Santorini to Herkalion in early October. What is the best way to get from Herkalion to Chania, short of renting a car? Thanks in advance!

We also spent 4 nights in Heraklion ( must see the museum and the Palace of Knossos) then we’re going to bus to Chania .
However when we got in taxi at hotel and told him bus station please as we were going to Chania - he offered to take us there for 150 euros . It was hot , we would be paying for a taxi to station , then bus tickets , then another taxi to hotel - so we said why not ! It actually worth it as the buses take 2.5 -3 hours and the taxi was just over two hours !
We did however take the bus back from Chania to Heraklion to grab a ferry - and the bus is fine .
