Covid testing

Hi,

My husband and I and our 12 year son are traveling to Greece next month. My husband and I are vaccinated, but our son is not. My understanding is that my husband and I can show our vaccination card and our son must get a PCR test within 72 hours of arriving in Greece. We arrive in Athens and plan to spend 3 nights there before we head to the islands. Does anyone know if my son will have to get another Covid test to take a ferry to the islands?

Thank you,

Cindy

My reading is that to get on a ferry from Athens, you need to show a vaccination certificate (as far as I know the format of this hasn’t been agreed) or show a PCR test taken within 72 hours, so yes, your son will need to get tested whilst there. Protocols may change before your trip, of course!

Hi Cindy,
Anyone who wish to travel domestically to the islands by ferry or plane must have one of the following:

– a vaccination certificate (stating that 14 days have passed since full vaccination for Covid-19)
– a negative PCR test performed less than three days (72 hours)
– a negative rapid antigen test taken 24 hours prior to travel
– a negative self-test taken 24 hours prior to travel.

Thank you for the information. How easy is it to get a self test? Can you just pick one up at the local pharmacy? Also, how easy is it to get a rapid test?

Hi again, both of them are very easy to found as the are sold to all pharmacies. A rapid test costs 20 euros while a self test about 6 euros
