Corfu question

We are planning on going to Corfu in Sept 2018. I have read in many other posts how the bees / wasps are too much in September, due to the ripe grapes, fruit etc. etc. I'm afraid it's going to be very annoying and ruin the vacation and dining outdoor experience etc. etc.

Can anyone that has spent a sept in Corfu give me their opinion on this issue? Is there a better or worse part of the island for the wasps? I don't want to sit everyday swatting away bees.,

thanks,
Andrew

Andy, you may do better on this question by posting on Fodor's travel Forum, or Trip Advisor, because there seem to be many more threads there about Corfu (mostly from UK travelers, because of the Very popular "holiday packages" offered in Britain).

Over-run might be too modest a term for the number of our British friends that de camp to Corfu every season to say nothing of the HUGE expat contingent there. I think what you will find is a more British Isle than a Greek one.

He's not asking about the number of British tourists; he's asking about bees and wasps.... I'm going to Greece / Corfu for our honeymoon in late June/ Early July and I haven't heard anything yet about them.

And as far as being overrun with tourists goes... What place isn't anymore? If you go to Mykonos or Santorini you'll find it 'overrun' with American and Asian tourists just like everywhere else in Europe. The fact that its German and British tourists who go there actually makes Corfu less mainstream.

We did not experience any problems in late summer and we went all over the island.

Thanks for the responses. I have read that it's really only in September when the fruit on the island ripens. As far as British tourists, there were a ton in Croatia when we visited last year, but as an American myself, I think American tourists are still worse. We're starting in Albania and Macedonia and that should be a bit quieter and not as many tourists.

I'm more concerned with the Wasps (bees) than the tourists.
