Corfu in June

My husband and I, and our teenage sons, 16 and 18, will be in Corfu for 5 nights in June, as one leg of our summer trip. I'm currently researching Airbnb properties to rent, but I can't decide where on the island is the best location. We will rent a car, so I'm not sure being in Old Corfu Town is a good idea for parking. Understanding this question is subjective, what are the best locations to stay in Corfu that are peaceful, but now too far away from beaches or attractions that we would want to visit during the day?

I think your sons may have a completely different idea of where to base yourselves in Corfu than you and your husband!

I'd avoid the areas of Ipsos, Kavos, Glyfada, Dassia and Sidari. The Old Town is busy with lots of bars and cafes but many tend to close around midnight, the areas I've listed have a higher concentration of bars and clubs that stay open a lot longer and attract a young, hedonistic crowd.

I would recommend Paleokastritsa and staying at a hotel rather than a rental. This area has beaches, snorkeling, places to eat, nearby boat rentals, and an easy drive to Corfu town for more activity. A larger hotel will be more social for your sons (beach area, pool, other people at the dining and lounge areas). Our teens loved our stay in this area and my husband and I loved the relative peace and beauty.

It's true my sons may have a different idea of where to stay than my husband and I! We would like to be close enough to some action for their sake, but don't want to be caught up in a nightlife crowd such that I've seen in videos of Kavos, for example. I am leaning towards Paleokastritsas. Stephb could you share the name of the hotel where you stayed? The reason we have chosen Corfu for this leg, after great consideration, is we are coming from London - Rome - Corfu - Athens. In Athens we will stay with family, as my husband is Greek American, and from there we will island hop in the Cycladic Islands. Corfu is our down time of our trip, but we do still want our sons to have some freedom and enjoy themselves.

We are trying to book a hotel in Corfu also and would appreciate recommendations. Thank you!
