Girls vacation trying to figure out where to stay: thinking of Agios Gordios or Paleokastriras. Hoping to find a clean comfortable place to make memories. We are not looking for fancy but more interested in the ambiance and would love to find a location that is conducive for swimming. We are planning on renting a car to explore the island.
Any suggestions or advice is appreciated.

I am sure either is fine. But Paleokastritsa is absolutely gorgeous - and the Apollon Hotel is directly in front of the beach. Not fancy but comfy and clean and convenient. But yes, a car would be useful.
