I am considering going to Northern Greece and then on a ship, spending some time in Crete, with a guided tour company. Are the Greeks so tired of tourists that it will be an unpleasant experience for us? We could go somewhere else, if so.
Crete is in the far south of Greece, not the most convenient destination from northern Greece.
As for the Greeks being "so tired of tourists", I have no idea what you're talking about.
If the Greeks get tired of tourists, then they will have to worry about their economy. Tourism accounts for anywhere from 20-30% of the country's GDP.
I am going out on a limb today to say there are a few locations where the large number of tourists impact not only community but also the travel experience.
Santorini is the first that comes to mind.
