Connection time at ATH

We're flying from Heraklion Airport on Crete (HER) to Athens International Airport (ATH) and I'm trying to figure out if we have enough connection time to catch our next flight to Paris. Has anyone had experience with this?

I'm looking at a flight that arrives at ATH from Crete at 12:15p, and then we'd be trying to catch a 2:55p departure from ATH to Paris. We will be checking bags (ugh I know!) so we'd have to go through baggage claim and then back through check in and security. Feels like a tight connection but I've never flown through ATH or from Crete so what do I know? :)

Thanks so much,
Charlie

Book Heraklion - Paris on one ticket, and you will be fine. On separate tickets I'd want about 6 hours between the flights. I've had connections of only 1h at ATH, and that worked fine. My luggage even made it to the next flight before me. But that was of course on one ticket.

I guess your HER → ATH flight is with Aegean/Olympic, If your ATH → Paris flight is also with Aegean you could have one ticket. (the other companies flying to France are not Star Alliance members, So to my knowledge a HER → CDG via Athens with Aegean is the only possibility to have a single ticket)

Note that Aegean offers a HER-CDG in one ticket with your HER-ATH flight arriving at 12:20 p.m. and a departure for CDG at 1:35 p.m. (1h15 connection time in Athens )

But even with two separate tickets and checked baggages 2h40 is enough time to catch your flight to Paris.

Of course provided that your flight to ATH will be on time

When is this trip? In the summer Air France has direct flights from Heraklion to Paris. Otherwise, as others have mentioned, just book Heraklion to Paris on a single ticket from Aegean.
