Confirming Biblical Athens Tour Recommendation!

“Julie M” recommended an Athens-based Tour Guide who specializes in New Testament History. I can’t find the original post (where Julie posed the question and then came back and answered it months later - yay Julie!). I highly recommend Thanasis (aka Thanos) Paproupas, www.guideforathens.com/. +33 6 5181 2042 (French #), [email protected]. He did a great job of connecting 1st century Athens with the Biblical record. He covered Athenian and Greek culture on the Acropolis and in the Agora. We also stopped for a snack in the Plaka neighborhood. It was about 6 hours - and he could have gone longer - and was a REALLY nice guy. Again, I can’t recommend him highly enough.

Thank you so much, Elizabeth, for describing what Mr Paproupas covers, in Athens. It would be even more helpful if you would be kind enough to add on, to include his rates per hour, for what size of group, andminimum # of hours. All too often on forums wonderful services are described -- but without costs, moderate-level travelers cannot gauge whether its affordable for them.

Excellent point!
He charged 400 Euro for a 5-6 hr private tour for 5 of us. He also brought small gifts for our girls.

Depending on his availability, his rates might be negotiable.

Vince normally the entry fees are the responsibility of the tourist.

Correct, I had to buy the Acropolis entry myself. I opted for the multi-site, 3 day package (one timed entry for the Acropolis, the other venues had non-timed entries). It worked well as Thanos then took us directly to the Agora and his explanations were quite helpful.
