Churches/Monastery dress code for women

Hi friends,
Does anyone know if women can wear pants when visiting churches/monasteries in Greece? I know that skirts that cover the knees are best, but what about trousers? We don't want to upset anyone.

Are head scarfs required?

DRESS CODE FOR LADIES
Women may have a more difficult time finding appropriate clothing to wear to an Orthodox church. The main reason for this is the overabundance of immodest clothing sold in stores these days. Ladies, try your best to find:

Modest dresses and blouses (avoid low-cut necklines or open backs)
Sleeves (no sleeveless tops, unless you wear a sweater to cover the shoulders)
Knee-length skirts or longer
Clean dress pants

If you are going to a monastery at Meteora, women MUST have a long skirt or dress. Our tour guide warned us females the night before visiting that we needed to wear a skirt or a dress that covered our knees. One female tour member thought she'd be OK with long pants. Nope. They made her put one of the "paper" skirts on over her pants.

Outside of most of the big churches or cathedrals, they have racks with large very lightweight shawls draped on them,... you are allowed to wrap them around your waists, over your trousers, to serve as "skirts." I've always relied on those, and not worried about wearing trousers or capri pants -- or having to bring along a skirt -- on a day that included church visits. If you get the wim-wams about using a shawl that's been touched by others, just bring along your own in your daybag.

To be comfortable and prepared I like skirts & tank tops - I carry a very lightweight long sleeve large shirt or open weave sweater to slip on when needed for covering or to be comfortable temperature wise - I carry a lightweight day bag for my stuff
