We will be on Crete for 11 nights in late February - early March, arriving in Chania and flying out of Heraklion. Our plan (right now, we might change our minds) is to book just 2 nights at each town and then decide where to go and stay once we're there.
I've read through posts here, going back about 2 years, and did some other research to find a short list of places that fit our budget and are in old town locations.
Some places that sounded good weren't taking bookings at that time. I assume they're closed but I'll probably email them to confirm. A couple actually had their dates of operation on their websites & won't be open. I knew this might be an issue.
In Chania my short list has Ionas Boutique Hotel, Arkadi Hotel, Elia Palatino and Mosaic Venetian Harbour Suites.
My list for Heraklion has Olive Green Hotel, Lato Boutique Hotel, Kastro Hotel and Dom Boutique Hotel.
Thoughts and feedback? Suggestions for places with good reviews and similar prices (these range from €75 - €110/night in Chania and €80 to €125/night in Heraklion) I could raise my budget but I'd rather not. We don't spend much time in our hotel room when we travel.
