Centrally Located Athens Hotels - Suggestions

Hi again,

Thank you everyone for helping me put together a great 2 ½ week itinerary for my wife and I in late spring 2025. I’d like a bit more help with some hotel suggestions at the end of our trip where we’ll be several nights in Athens before flying home. I’ve combed this forum and looked at the suggested hotels, along with RS recommendations. Even though we’re about four months off from staying in Athens quite a number of hotels are already booked. Ideally, we’d like a clean, safe, centrally located, mid-priced hotel, includes breakfast, and has a roof terrace. (Hopefully not too long of a wish list.) We plan to spend our days out sightseeing.

Hotels we’re considering are: Hotel Adonis; Arion Hotel; Hotel Hera; and Acropolis View Hotel. Regretfully the Attalos is not available for our dates (it looks great). Has anyone recently stayed at these hotels, or can you help with alternate suggestions?

Another question is accommodation in Kardamyli. Our first choice of Vardio Hotel is not available. So we’re looking at alternatives such as: Anniska Hotel; NoTos Hotel, Elies Hotel; and Melitsina Village Hotel. Has anyone recently stayed at these hotels, or can you help with alternate suggestions?

Thanks all.

I stayed at AD Athens Luxury Rooms and Suites twice last summer and felt like it was a real unicorn of a hotel. Super location right across from Acropole metro stop but on a side street so it’s quiet, very reasonable prices, great rooftop view of Acropolis, room was small but bathroom very nice and fridge had included bottles of still and sparking water each day, totally cosy and perfect for a couple at the lowest room price. Would pay bigger if sharing a room with non-family. It’s the type of place I almost don’t want to tell people about because it’s such a gem. (But here I am lol) Elevator and entry only by being buzzed in so very secure (unsure about 24 hour access). AC worked well, bed and linens comfy, clean, etc.

I iprefer tha area just south of Acropolis "precincy" because of the lovely no-cars promenade that skirts the entire area - it provide open air, views, lots of trees... before dinner in late Spring, the local families take their "Volta" (walk) ... with baby carriages, kids on trikes, there's a ballon man, ice-cream carts... looks like a poster! And SO handy to major sites. Hotels in Mid-range are Hotel Hera, Airotel Parthenon, Hotel Phillipos - and its somewhat upscale sister, Hotel Herodion. All may be a bit more than Adonis, but I gave that one up 15 years ago... no rooms w views to speak of, and at least in past, no mini-fridge in rooms to keep beverages cold.

Hello,

You might take a look at the Hermes Hotel and the Plaka Hotel. Both have a small terrace with views of the Acropolis. We would definitely stay at both of them again.

Hope that helps.

Thanks you all for the replies

Very helpful, and it reinforced my thoughts to stay south of the Acropolis in a less touristy area

Look at these on Booking. If they are better-than 8.0 they are going to be fine. Then, book directly with the hotel.

At Janet's suggestion, we stayed at the Airotel Parthenon in May 2022, and its location is perfect. About 5 minutes from the Plaka, about 10-15 minutes from the Acropolis, and near many, many restaurants. Our rate included breakfast, which we thought was a mediocre breakfast. There are places nearby if you want to have breakfast at a restaurant.
