Any suggestions for Santorini hotels w/ caldera views you can vouch for? We are staying for one night and are looking for;
- Sunset View
- Cave Suite
- Private Plunge pool
- Walking distance to food/shops
Is the north end of the island the best place to be for sunsets/views?

You really want a cave suite? You want to be in a dark, damp room?
There is a reason cave men left their caves and man began to live in houses.
We stayed in one of Oia’s top “cave rooms.” Claustrophobic too. Choose another type of room!

Claustrophobia would possibly make staying in a cavehouse a challenge, but not all cavehouses are dark and damp. That's a misleading statement. Most have been updated with A/C and good windows to let the light in. In Oia check the units at Oia Castle Hotel and Marizan Caves & Villas. The best overall location for sunset watching is not at the north end of the island but in the village of Imerovigli, which is at the highest elevation overlooking the caldera, giving many places there an unobstructed view of the sunset.

Our cave room was in a five star hotel in Oia, had a/c, amenities. The pool was very cold. Just a head’s up.
