Skeaston, it would be thoughtful when posting a NEW inquiry, to "recap" what you posted before... advisors should not have to click on your name & find previous posts in order to have adequate information to address your situation. It seems in the past you were looking either to drive in the Peloponnese OR on islands, and that you have 18 days. Please sir or madam, let us know if you've decided to do either or both, because answer depends upon it. Yes, you will be able to rent a car... whether we recommend it will depend very much on what your desired itinerary is.... AND at the time of year (which y ou do not mention here). In late April early may there will be little traffic... so the route would be the answer.

In Santorini I say do NOT rent a car. Lots of bad driving goes on there, and busses, taxis will handle any needs. NAXOS, you can drive very easily to beach areas, and if you go into the hill country, there will be virtually no traffic and you can proceed as slowly and carefully as you wish... be aware however, that beyond the village of Filoti toward the north, the curves are challenging and the road has drop-off to one side. I wouldn't try drivin to Delphi when a perfeclty good Modern intercity bus with ac & comfortable upholstered reserved seats make it easy ... the 1st hour is ordinay highway but last bit is up the mountain. Do you want to drive to Nafplio?? Piece o' cake! modern divided highway for 2/3 of he way, then a gently rolling 2-lane country road with little t raffice. The whole area around Nafplio would be easy... it's a valley area, lots of fun to drive around -- to Mycenae, Epidaurus, Nemea, etc. See what I mean? your intinerary matters -- so don't keep it secret.

ALSO; you can rent at your comfort level -- smal car, OR honda-accord size, with automatic shift, or if your pocketbook says, y ou can get a mercedes. Theyll offer GPS but DO Have a papermap besides, because GPS can lead you astray (how?? because, there are many duplicated town-names in for example Peloponnese --- each "prefecture" (township sorta) may have a village named Episkopi.

We drove all over Greece, and you need to be aware of mountainous roads and longer times to arrive at your destination than you think. Age requirements or limits are set by the different car rental companies so call around to check.
Or call AutoEurope in Portland, Maine.

The short answer to your question is, “yes.” I did it just a couple of years ago. If you look at AutoEurope.com, you will see a place to indicate that you are over 70. Then, you wil be shown only companies that will rent to you.

I did not find driving in Greece to be daunting. I did, however, elect to do a guided tour up one of the long, steep Cretan gorges, mostly because the driving was so challenging, that I would have seen nothing but the road.
Reminder . . . Greece is one of the countries that requires the idp.
