My wife and I will be spending 10 days on Rhodes is October. We are wondering if we should rent a car for the full ten days or take a taxi to our hotel relax for a few days and then rent a car for the last 5 days and return it to the airport. Any thoughts? Our hotel is only 5km from the airport so I’m thinking a taxi wouldn’t be a big expense.
Depends on where your hotel is and what you like to do. There is good bus as well as taxi transportation to Rhodes city. Parking can be challenging and expensive unless your hotel provides it. We are going to Rhodes in September and staying in the old town 4 nights. A car would be more problems than helpful. Then we are taking the ferry to Symi for three nights. When we return to Rhodes for another week we’ll pick up a car at the ferry but we are staying near Lindos and want to explore the rest of the island. We’ll return the car to the airport. Your idea of getting a car for only five days sounds good to me.
Are you renting the car ahead of time or when you arrive in port?
I reserved everything a couple of months ago. In my experience you get better rates online and in advance. You can always cancel if plans change.
I would book a car for the lady five days.
