Car rental in Ioannina

I was looking into car rental last time we were there but ended up not going ahead as we filled our days in Ioannina! Friends there recommended who to go to though, this one was top of the list,

They all said avoid Hertz, there was a couple of others they also said were fine, I’ll have a look see if I can locate them & post links if I find them :) We’re going back for 6 days in October so I need to start my planning soon anyway!

Do you know what the weather typically like in the mountains north of Ioannina at that time? I am going in the last week of September.

We were in Ioannina itself last September, expect a mix, especially once you go up in the mountains, you may get lucky but best to be prepared for anything! Layers, cooler evenings, particularly once you leave Ioannina. Just to show how unpredictable it can be, here we are, 10th June & I saw a video of the weather in Ioannina as it was at 4pm today, a massive hailstorm! We’re going in October & I’ll be packing for all weathers myself :)

Thanks. I always travel with layers, so rain and cool weather aren't an issue. I just hope it doesn't snow at the end of September. Driving in the mountains in snowy weather is not my cup of tea :)

I’m surprised they didn’t get back to you, I do recommend trying again, a friend recently visited & used them with no communication issues, it may be that they are busy with July/August bookings & figured there’s no rush so far in advance.
As mentioned, Hertz is not recommended & add Avis, reports that they are not so good either!

@salnav, thanks very much for the additional leads. Kris Car Rental finally responded to my message. I also checked a couple of other companies, and they didn't have an automatic car available for the dates I was interested in.

It is a common theme that big name companies have bad ratings compared to local car rental companies. Which makes sense as local companies need happy customers in order to get more business.
